A First Glimpse (Maria smells like doodoo)
From the wildlife to the limestone cliffs that meet with Arctic waters in Akpatok National Park of Canada. Established in 1999 "Akpatok", an Inuit word meaning Thick-Billed Murre protects 1141.17 km 2 of rocky terrain. Located in Akpatok Island, Nunavut the park includes the limestone cliffs that range from 150-250 metres high, deep ravines breaking through the cliffs, and acres of ice sheets. The Island is the largest island in Ungava bay is also an important bird area as many thick billed Murres come to lay their eggs.
