WildlifeAlthough the majority of the island is bare rock it is full of life as thousands of thick-billed murres come to the island every summer to migrate and lay their eggs. The island includes endangered polar bears which come to the island to hunt the thick billed murres. The waters surrounding the parks protect whales which were normally hunted before the park opened. Akpatok National Park includes a variety of animal watching such as bird watching, whale watching, and polar bear feeding programs.
